THEME: HE IS RISEN
INTRODUCTION:
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of Christianity. Without it, our faith is empty (1 Corinthians 15:17). Today, we celebrate the truth: HE IS RISEN!
SCRIPTURE:
Matthew 28:6-7 (KJV):
"He is not here; for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you."
MEANING:
- He is risen: Jesus Christ, crucified and buried, has been raised from the dead by God.
- "as he said": Jesus predicted his resurrection (Matthew 16:21, 17:23, 20:19).
- "Come, see": The empty tomb is proof of resurrection.
- "go quickly, and tell": The Great Commission to spread the news of resurrection.
INTERPRETATION:
Jesus' resurrection validates his claims about himself (John 10:30).
It confirms God's power over death (Romans 1:4).
It's the firstfruits of our resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20).
LESSONS:
1. Hope in suffering: Like Jesus, we face death but have hope of resurrection (Romans 8:11).
2. Power of the Gospel: The risen Christ empowers us to live for him (Ephesians 1:19-20).
3. Witnessing: We're called to share the resurrection news (Matthew 28:19-20).
CONCLUSION:
Because HE IS RISEN, we have life, hope, and a purpose.
Let's live as resurrection people, sharing the Good News.
PRAYER:
Beloved in Christ I pray with you this Resurrection Sunday that whatever is dead and buried in your life, family, education, or business will surely come to life in the name of Jesus. I declare it done. Amen.
