THE SUNDAY BEFORE THE PASSOVER: PT.1

1. JESUS' TRIUMPHAL ENTRY:

A. INTRODUCTION:

Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem is a pivotal moment in the Gospel narrative, marking the beginning of the end of Jesus' earthly ministry.

B. MEANING:

Jesus' triumphal entry is the event where Jesus rides a donkey into Jerusalem, fulfilling Zechariah 9:9, and is hailed as the Messiah by the crowds.

- SCRIPTURE: Luke 19:28-40 (focus on verses 35-38)

C. Interpretation Lesson:

    - JESUS' MODE of transportation (a donkey) symbolizes humility and peace, contrasting with the typical war hero on a horse.

    D. THE CROWDS' praise ("Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!") acknowledges Jesus as the Messiah.

    E. Jesus' response to the Pharisees ("If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out") emphasizes the inevitability of God's plan.

F. CONCLUSION:

Jesus' triumphal entry is a declaration of His kingship and a fulfillment of prophecy, setting the stage for the events leading to His crucifixion and resurrection.

G.  PRAYER:
