THE SUNDAY BEFORE THE PASSOVER: Pt.2
. JESUS WEEPING OVER JERUSALEM
A. INTRODUCTION:
As Jesus approaches Jerusalem, He looks at the city and weeps, showing deep sorrow for its fate.
B. MEANING: Jesus' tears express grief over Jerusalem's spiritual blindness and impending destruction.
C. SCRIPTURE: Luke 19:41-44
- Interpretation Lesson:
- JESUS' WEEPING shows His compassion and love for the city, despite its rejection of Him.
- THE PHRASE "you did not recognize the time of God's coming" highlights Jerusalem's missed opportunity for salvation.
D. THE PROPHECY of destruction ("days will come upon you... because you did not know the time of your visitation") points to the consequences of rejecting Jesus.
E. CONCLUSION:
Jesus' tears remind us of God's heart for humanity - sorrow over sin and desire for repentance.
