Personal Details

  • About Me By profession I am a teacher and director of theater.
I was born in England and raised in Israel. I am obsessed by the tragedy of the Middle East; by war, by the pain of war and the long term effect it has on individuals
Until now, the subjects that have dominated my creative interest are what I've come to call, the "human face of conflict." Under the best circumstances, our lives are blessed with hope and heroism while fraught with pain, loss, family stress, secrets, and broken promises. War and political strife play a more and more dominant part in our daily lives. Day-to-day problems don't disappear when war happens. How do the complexities of regular life make way for war? How do regular people like you and me exist in life under war?
  • Books I've Written My published works are Hidden, Christine Anderson Publishing & Media, 2015; Israela, Tate Publishing, 2011; Electra: A Gender Sensitive Study of Plays Based on the Myth, and McFarland &Co Publishing,Ltd, 1995.
  • Favorite Authors I was raised on the Bible and Dostoevsky, I love and have directed Chekhov, Brecht, Shakespeare and the ancient Greeks. I love Ibsen, Molier, Pirandello, Brecht--and Athol Fugard. I've been tortured by and riveted to every word by Elie Wiesel. I love all the works of Barbara Kingsolver, especially the Poisonwood Bible; and I was overwhelmed by Nicole Krauss' The History of Love.
